Besqab takes big steps for climate optimization with Plant

Besqab has a stated goal in its business plan to reduce the company's climate footprint by 50 percent by 2030. As part of achieving the goals, a framework agreement for climate calculations in construction projects has been signed with Plant, which means increased opportunities to work actively with climate impact in the various stages of the projects.

Pelle Tunell, CEO, Plant and Hanna Bodbacka, Sustainability Manager, Besqab

Hanna Bodbacka, Sustainability Manager, Besqab said:
"The agreement between Besqab and Plant is a clear sign of how data-driven decisions and innovative tools are becoming increasingly important to reduce the climate impact of the construction and real estate industry. Understanding your impact and making active decisions that can then be accounted for in a clear and transparent way will be an important part of more climate-efficient construction and the industry's journey towards climate neutrality."

The collaboration between Besqab and Plant begins with some 20 climate calculations at various stages. By following up the forecasts together with other relevant key figures, sustainability is integrated into decision-making. The platform provides a better understanding of which building components have the greatest impact on the climate calculation and by using existing 3D models, time is saved and reliable results are guaranteed.

Pelle Tunell, CEO, Plant said:
"Customers now demand both ready-made climate calculations, software for their own calculations and our advice. We adapt our offer to the customer and for Besqab it is about delivering all these parts. The agreement is comprehensive and makes Besqab pioneers in sustainable construction."

With the support of the climate calculations, Besqab can already at an early stage identify relevant measures for reducing the climate footprint in line with the sustainability strategy and staircase for climate impact in the projects. The target value is set based on the year in which the project is expected to receive its building permit, for 2025 Besqab's target value is 260 kgCo2e/m2BTA for apartment buildings.

Hanna Bodbacka, Sustainability Manager Besqab continues:
"An important part of Besqab's work to reduce the climate footprint of our projects is to work actively with material optimization and minimization using climate calculations as a basis for decision-making. With the help of Plant's tools and expertise, we get smart and fast help with climate calculations, and we can spend time sharpening our skills and our strategies for developing climate and energy efficient buildings."
