Our history

The brothers' climate-smart platform for the construction industry

What started as a service for friends in the construction sector has blossomed into a leading impact company that is now the fastest-growing greentech company in Sweden, doubling its turnover four years in a row. Using Plant's groundbreaking climate calculation platform, industry professionals across the construction spectrum can integrate quality-assured climate calculations into their workflows, leading to smarter and more climate-efficient decisions from the ground up.

Plant was founded in 2017 by brothers Pelle Tunell and John Sjulander, both with backgrounds in software development and engineering. Together they developed a unique software tool that not only meets the digitization needs of the construction and real estate industry, but also their growing climate requirements. For the first three years, the brothers financed the business themselves, working evenings and weekends. When they felt they had the right product, they attracted external capital, which led to explosive growth. Plant has gone from two to its current 29 employees.

2017

Plant is founded - Vasakronan becomes first customer

With backgrounds in software development and construction, the founders see a need to help the industry with climate calculations. In May 2017, Plant gets its first client, and their environmental report for the Hubben project is included in Vasakronan's annual report.

2021

Plant receives 4 million SEK for innovation projects

Plant is granted a project budget from Smart Built Environment and the Swedish Construction Industry Development Fund (SBUF). The aim is for Plant to continue developing BIM and climate calculations in the construction sector.

2022

Doubled turnover and 17 employees

In one and a half years, Plant went from two to 17 employees. Many large construction and real estate companies cover framework agreements with Plant. The software is greatly expanded with automation. Plant develops the world's best BIM engine for climate calculations and creates an unbroken chain of information.

2023

Doubled turnover... Again!

For the fourth consecutive year, Plant's turnover doubled and 50% of real estate companies now use Plant for climate calculations. The software continues to reach new heights thanks to a sharp team on climate-optimized construction and dedicated software developers.

2024

Plant raises SEK 25 million in investment

In 2024, Plant raises SEK 25 million in investment from Latour Future Solutions, Almi Invest Greentech and Course Corrected, enabling our continued investment in sustainable solutions in the construction and real estate industry. We win the Nordic Proptech Awards, launch several new tool supports and start a comprehensive collaboration with Serneke to accelerate the industry's sustainable transition.

2025

Tripled license revenues, Skanska and biodiversity

Plant triples its license revenue and gains 60 new license customers, one of which is the international player Skanska. Plant is also the first on the Swedish market to calculate biodiversity loss through the research project Wood vs. Concrete, in which Plant is participating together with Chalmers, IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, and Sveafastigheter. Biodiversity is also calculated for Vasakronan, Hemsö, and Skandia Fastigheter.
