Fabege chooses Plant for climate calculations

Fabege and Plant have now signed a framework agreement whereby Plant will carry out Fabege's climate calculations, both large and small projects, until further notice. Fabege AB has adopted a goal of halving its CO2 footprint in construction projects by 2030.

- To achieve our sustainability goal, we need a robust and efficient calculation tool that helps us find smart CO2 savings. The reason why we chose Plant is the tool's ability to use 3D models for calculation, which streamlines the work for the project participants, says Sandra Holmström, sustainability specialist at Fabege.

- Plant has also developed modules to make easier calculations of tenant adaptations and simplified calculations at an early stage, which we believe can be of great help to start calculations early and get the tenants involved in the work to reduce the CO2 footprint, continues Sandra Holmström.

Since January 1, 2022, all new construction projects are required by law to prepare a climate declaration. Fabege's guideline for CO2 calculation is more ambitious than the legal requirement and includes more building components and life cycle stages, as well as renovations over 20 million.

- It is gratifying to once again sign an agreement with one of the largest players in the real estate industry. Fabege shows determination in its sustainability journey. We have run a couple of pilot projects that quickly transitioned to this framework agreement. It is also great that they are investing in climate calculations of renovations, which is not required by law or certification," says Pelle Tunell, CEO of Plant.
